There are a lot of events going on from 20 June – 5 July this year. Its Warwickshire Open Studios Summer Art Weeks and we have brochures for this to pick up (online guide here). Not specifically arts but this year’s Love Rugby Festival runs across the same time period and, due to generous funding from Rugby Borough Council, there are many arts events. Plus a return of the pavement chalking by Rugby Artists and Makers members.
The Alex is not taking part directly in WOS this year as it is playing host to these events during the Festival instead – pause and take deep breath!):
* two exhibitions (current Rugby Artists and Makers show followed by our Summer Arts exhibition from 2nd July).
* five demonstrations with accompanying audience participation activities (funded by Rugby Borough Council Love Rugby grant)
* summer showdown evening event
* two chess tasters on the morning of 20th and 27th June (11am-1pm), yes that one is tenuous and is because of Chris’ historic links to the chess club in Rugby.
* A jelly baby ‘refuelling’ station for the 5K runners who will pass here in need of extra sugar on 5th July.
